Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the day of your surgery. This includes no water, mints or gum. You may brush your teeth being careful not to swallow any water.

Do not take any medications or supplements after midnight unless specifically instructed by your doctor. If you are taking medication to control your blood pressure, blood sugar or heart condition ask your physician if you should leave these off. Some medications, such as blood thinners, are stopped a few days prior to surgery.

Refrain from smoking after midnight the day of your surgery.

Bathe or shower with antibacterial soap the morning of surgery. Do not apply makeup, body oils or lotions. Avoid use of personal care products that contain alcohol such as many hair care products, moisturizers, and facial creams your day of surgery. Remove any fingernail polish.

Wear loose comfortable clothing that is easy to remove.

Wear low heeled, sensible shoes as you may feel a little unsteady on your feet following surgery.

Leave valuables and jewelry at home.

If you wear contact lenses, glasses or dentures, bring a case for their safekeeping during surgery.

Make sure you have a responsible adult to drive you home and preferably stay with you the first 24 hours after your surgery.

For infants and children: bring diapers, bag, extra juice bottle and favorite toy or blanket.

A list of medications that include the name of the drug, the dose (e.g., 250 mg), how often taken each day, the time you take the medicine each day, and why you take the medication. This includes any over-the-counter items such as aspirins, vitamins, minerals or other supplements. You will also be required to list your allergies to medications, foods, environmental, etc.

Due to limited space, please limit your guest to two visitors.

If there are any changes in your physical condition before surgery (including a minor cold or flu), contact your doctor immediately.
